An 85-Year-Old Man, Not the Intended Target, Was Kidnapped from His Sydney Home
In a bizarre case of mistaken identity, an 85-year-old man, Chris Baghsarian, was kidnapped from his home in North Ryde, Sydney, by individuals who intended to target someone else. The incident unfolded around 5 a.m. when neighbors heard a commotion and contacted the police.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that Mr. Baghsarian was missing and that there were signs of forced entry. Detective Acting Superintendent Andrew Marks confirmed that the kidnappers had the wrong person.
"They took Mr. Baghsarian from his bedroom in his family home and bundled him into a car, taking him to an unknown location," Detective Marks explained. "We believe Mr. Baghsarian was not the intended target."
A dark Toyota SUV, believed to have been used in the kidnapping, was later found burnt out near Baghsarian's home. At least three people are suspected to have been involved in the operation.
Detective Marks assured the public that Mr. Baghsarian's family is not involved in any criminal activity and is shocked by the kidnapping. He emphasized their concern and their desire for their father's safe return.
"His family is quite concerned and surprised," Detective Marks said. "They want their father back safely."
There are also concerns for Mr. Baghsarian's health, as he requires daily medication. Detective Marks appealed for his safe return and medical attention, emphasizing the vulnerability of an 85-year-old man.
"We fear for his safety," Detective Marks stated. "We urge the kidnappers to release Mr. Baghsarian and take him to a hospital or a safe location. We will ensure he receives the necessary medical treatment."
The police have released an image of Mr. Baghsarian and are urging anyone with information or unusual sightings to contact them. The public is encouraged to assist in the investigation and ensure the safe return of Mr. Baghsarian.
